PSAT
The PSAT is a college entrance test preparing juniors for the SAT and possibly qualifying them for a National Merit Scholarship. All high school juniors are required to take it in the fall, but it is also open to freshmen and sophomores. The test is administered at PHAA once per school year, this year’s test being on Wednesday, October 15. More information can be found on the PSAT website.
SAT
The SAT is the most common college-entrance test, taken at the beginning of senior year. It is usually administered on Saturdays, but there are always Sunday dates following. Test dates and registration can be accessed online. To register for a Sunday test date, please contact the school's registrar for special papers and directions. The SAT is used for almost all college acceptance criteria and is also considered for academic scholarships. SAT practice books and taking the test more than once are greatly advised. ACT
The ACT is a less common alternate to the SAT, though most Adventist colleges accept it also. It is offered at different locations and dates than the SAT. The same Saturday/Sunday test schedule applies. Test dates and registration can be done entirely online. Below is a link to a list of test centers in California and their test dates. The closest test centers to PHAA are Pacific Union College, Lodi Adventist Acdemy, Rio Lindo Academy, Sacramento Adventist Academy, and Mountain View Academy. Sunday Test Dates
Don’t forget to pickup the required letter for Sunday testing. It must be included in the application envelope or you will not be allowed in testing. The letter is a signed statement from our church pastor indicating the need for a religious variance for a Sunday test date.
For the SAT, the Sunday test date is the Sunday immediately after a Saturday test date. Act Sunday test dates are posted on their website, but available test date vary for each different test center.
